Dubheart bring their heady stew of contemporary roots reggae to Wilkswood Reggae 2018.

Heavyweight roots reggae band Dubheart bring their live and organic dub show to this year’s Wilkswood Reggae Festival for the third year running and will be showcasing a number of tracks from their new album, Cool Under Pressure, released on the Karnatone label in March 2018.
Originally formed in Bournemouth in 1999, the band spent the former years crafting and perfecting their roots reggae sound, self-producing a list of albums and playing clubs and festivals around the UK. In 2008 they were joined by French born MC/vocalist Tenja who’s been working as the band’s main singer to this day. Some of their earlier releases include ‘Solid Foundation Riddim’ (2010) and ‘We Chant’ (2012) which became an underground protest anthem following the nuclear fallout caused by 2011’s tragic Tsunami. These records earned the band the respect of a wider international audience in the live music and sound system scene, with Jah Shaka and Scientist incorporating the tracks regularly into their sets.
In 2013 the band entered the Rototom European Reggae Contest. After being selected from thousands of bands, Dubheart went on to play the UK final in London, and then on to win the European final in Zurich; they were awarded the title of European Reggae Contest winners followed by an extensive tour around the biggest European reggae festivals with their album ‘Mental Slavery’. In 2015 the band went on to work with Mad Professor at Ariwa Sound studios on a collaborative album, to be released in the near future. In 2016 they featured on the BBC TV show UK Best Part Time Band and, following their appearance they felt inspired to record ‘Full Time Pressure’, an EP of their favourite cover songs they’d performed on the show.
Dubheart are about as ripe and ready as they have ever been to hit the rest of the world with their vibrant, live and organic dub show. This is true roots rockers music, harking straight back to the heart of 1970s Kingston Jamaica with a fresh UK edge.
