After careful and considerate assessment of the current Covid-19 situation, we have decided to take the very difficult but sensible decision to postpone this year’s Wilkswood Reggae Festival until July 23rd – 25th 2021.
We’d been hoping that the situation with the coronavirus pandemic would develop positively but, given the current uncertainty, we felt rescheduling to summer 2021 is the only responsible and correct thing to do. Your safety and welfare and that of our crew, volunteers, performers and the local community remain our priority and the decision to reschedule has been made with everyone’s best interests and well-being as the primary concern.
The decision to take this step has not been an easy one and we’re gutted not to be able to bring you the fabulous festival we’ve all grown to love. However we can at least now focus our efforts on protecting our elderly and vulnerable neighbours whilst not placing further pressures on the NHS and frontline services.
All existing tickets will automatically become valid for the rescheduled festival set to take place on the weekend of July 23rd – 25th 2021. For those that cannot make the 2021 dates, unused tickets will also be valid for the 2022 festival.
The best chance for the future and independence of the Wilkswood Reggae Festival to be safeguarded is for all current ticket holders to roll their tickets over to the 2021 event. We are hoping that the majority of our festival-goers will help to support us through these challenging times by agreeing to join us next year for another stellar three days of the best in UK and international reggae.
As a special thank you, all existing ticket holders will automatically be entitled to an extra festival day on Thursday July 22nd AT NO EXTRA CHARGE where you can soak up even more of the music and atmosphere at one of the UK’s best loved small festivals.
As a ticket holder, there is nothing you need to do at this moment in time. We will contact you to confirm the new dates and to explain procedures for 2021.
After some extensive negotiations, we are delighted to confirm that all the artists confirmed for this year’s festival have agreed to reschedule their appearances for the 2021 festival. This means that all our live acts, including Mad Professor and the Ariwa Posse, Twinkle Brothers, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Sandra Cross, Vivian Jones and Natty Campbell will be appearing as well as the Channel One, Sinai and Mungo’s HiFi sound systems performing with their own custom-built sound systems. Full details will appear on the website soon.
We’d like to say a special thanks to everyone for their continued and kindhearted support. We trust that you and your family are getting through these difficult times safely and are able to keep the Wilkswood Reggae spirit alive.
