Take me to Zamaica now!
Seven-piece Preston-based good time reggae band Zamaica make their debut appearance at this year’s Wilkswood Roots Reggae Festival.
Zamaica first originated in the late 70s, recording a song ‘Secret Love’ on the Black Joy label produced by Aston Family Man Barrett (Bob Marley’s Bass Player) and Desmond Mahoney (Black Slates Drummer). They have since performed with Junior Murvin, Sugar Minnott, Clint Eastwood and General Saint to name a few.
Zamaica is a mixed cultured reggae band who reformed again in 2014 with the original drummer Adam and new members Dave (bass guitar), Mick (rhythm & lead guitar), Salle (keyboards), Steve (percussion), Adrian (saxophone). Working with various vocalists, the band have performed at varies venues across the UK including The One Love festival in Kent, The Hootenanny Club in Brixton London and The Guild Hall in Preston.
The band will perform a heady mix of dancehall, lovers rock, roots, dub and conscious music will perform much of their new studio material.
