Poet, promoter and creative writing facilitator Myriam San Marco makes her first visit to Wilkswood Reggae Festival appearing on the DJ Derek Stage.
As the Bournemouth Poet Laureate, Myriam San Marco has been leading a creative writing development program for local writers with the support of Bournemouth Libraries. In 2016 she founded Wordmakers and Silence Breakers, a collection of wandering wordsmiths, vagabond verbalisers and rhyming rebels working as workshop facilitators, bards, fools and muses at local festivals and one-off events. The Wordmakers present a bi-monthly spoken word night at Chaplin’s Cellar Bar in Boscombe and will start hosting spoken word shows at the Shelley Theatre in Bournemouth later this year.
Spoken word artist, Abe Gibson, described her performance as “…cutting to draw blood”. Her debut poetry collection will be published by Burning Eye Books in June 2018.
