Jack Sellen

Jack Sellen

Between around 2003-2009 you may have been inconvenienced by an N-reg Peugeot 106 careering around the roads of Purbeck (within the speed limit), pumping out dub and reggae jams loudly on a cheap Halfords sound system. The car’s driver was a young Jack Sellen, who went on to become arguably Corfe Castle’s best ever DJ export, albeit the least commercially successful. These days Jack DJs regularly around London where now he lives and runs gig nights, as well as spinning for beers at Glastonbury, Port Eliot, Truck and many other festivals.

At Wilkswood, Jack will be selecting records from his chest of specialist Caribbean treasures, with reggae, calypso disco and steelpan sounds from right across the islands: Trinidad, Martinique, Barbados, Haiti, you name it.

Jack is also co-owner of Boxpub, the converted horsebox which forms the DJ Derek Memorial Stage itself, and, having enjoyed Derek’s performances several times, couldn’t be prouder that it’s been named after such a legendary figure.

The track he’s picked for us here represents the current fervour on the streets of London…”Capitalism dying by degrees / Socialism if you please”!
