Dubheart are one of the few roots reggae bands in the world performing a fully organic, fully live, dub reggae show. The band has played many festivals and clubs around the UK and Europe, and has supported and worked with great artists including The Wailers, Easy Star All Stars, Vibronics, Zion Train, Macka B, Don Letts, Love Grocer, Paul Fox (Shades of Black), MDV, UK Playerz, Jah Reg and Seventh Sense Allstars. Musical influences range from classic 70s sounds such as Gladiators, Burning Spear, Culture, Dennis Brown, Scientist to many modern JA/US sounds like Niyorah Abjah, Taurrus Riley, Groundation and heavy steppin’ UK sounds like Conscious Sounds, Jah Warrior, Irations Steppas, Jah Shaka etc.
Originally hailing from the south coast of England, Dubheart formed in 1999 and following many years crafting their live sound, they released their first single ‘Solid Foundation Riddim’ in 2010. The single became a firm sound system staple – Jah Shaka regularly incorporated it into his DJ set – and the band’s global profile was further raised when follow-up single, ‘We Chant’ became an underground anthem in Japan.
In 2013 the band entered the Rototom European Reggae Contest; after being selected from thousands of bands, Dubheart went on to play the UK final in London and then on to win the European final in Zurich, being awarded the title of European Reggae Contest winners! A follow-up tour of some of the best reggae festivals in Europe, including United Islands Czech, Summerjam Germany, Sardinia Reggae Festival, Reggae Sun Ska France, Sudoweste Portugal, Overjam Slovenia and Rototom Spain.
The current line-up comprises Tenja (vocals), Zacheous Jackson (vocals), Mark Shepherd (bass), Gavin Sant (drums and horns), Steve Parsons (percussion ), Dave Daddy-U Mountjoy (keys) and Rich Ramsey (ridden n lead guitar). As co-organisers of the Wilkswood Reggae Festival, you know you are guaranteed a real heart ’n’ soul performance of true roots rockers music, harking straight back to the heart of 1970s Kingston Jamaica.
